Acura

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Acura is the premium brand that Honda created for North America. It opened in the spring of 1986 and was the first luxury division set up by a Japanese automaker, with a line of newly built dealerships behind it. The launch pair was the Legend, an executive sedan developed with Austin Rover, and the Integra, a compact hatchback. The NSX mid-engine sports car followed in 1990, the MDX family crossover in 2001, and fast Type R and Type S versions have come and gone across the decades. Today its showrooms are in Panama, Mexico, Canada and the United States, and buyers in a handful of other countries took its cars for a time. Many Acura models are close cousins of Honda cars sold elsewhere under Honda's own badge.
