The 1990 Acura Integra was the first of the second generation. It was longer and wider than its predecessor, gained a four-door sedan beside the liftback and carried a new 1.8 litre twin-cam engine rated at 130 horsepower as standard equipment. The range opened with three trims, RS, LS and GS, and the Japanese cars of the same design were built slightly narrower than the American ones so they would stay in a lower tax class.
