The redesigned Integra reached North American showrooms for 1990, longer and wider than before and with a bigger 1.8 litre twin-cam engine. A four-door sedan joined the three-door liftback, and a sportier GS-R trim with a high-revving VTEC engine was added in the middle of 1992. The same car was sold in Japan with the first VTEC engine Honda ever built, and the Japanese cars were trimmed slightly in width to keep a lower tax class.
