The 1987 Acura Integra was the car's first full year on sale. Car and Driver put it on its 10Best list for the first of what would become eight appearances, and the Integra began a two-year run of manufacturers' titles in the IMSA International Sedan series. The twin-cam 1.6 litre engine remained the centre of the car, in a body sold in the United States only as a liftback, and the sporty looks included pop-up headlights shared with Honda's other sports models.
