For 1998 the pre-facelift 3.5RL received minor improvements. The Base and Premium trims were given a new directional, spiral rim design for the wheels, and Acura offered a one-year Special Edition with two two-tone paint schemes and unique seven-spoke 16 inch alloy wheels. This was the last year of the original body style, which gave way to a front and rear facelift with the 1999 model, and the car remained the 3.5RL with its 3.5 litre V6.
