The 1996 Acura TL replaced the Vigor and was the first Acura with a letter name in place of a traditional one, an attempt to focus buyers on the Acura name. The 2.5 TL used a 176 horsepower five-cylinder and was the sporty one, while the 3.2 TL used a 200 horsepower V6 and a more luxurious ride. The first one was built at Sayama, Japan on March 28, 1995, but the 3.2 TL was delayed by a trade dispute.
