The Lincoln Continental is a luxury car produced by Ford's Lincoln division from 1939, originating as a personal car built for Edsel Ford and admired enough to be put into limited production. The 1961 generation is especially remembered for its clean, slab sided styling and rear hinged doors, and Continentals of that era became a standard choice for American state and presidential motorcades, including the car in which President John F. Kennedy was riding at the time of his assassination.
