The Continental was updated in late 1997 for the 1998 model year with revised front and rear styling. The instrument panel was redesigned while retaining the reflective dash cluster, and the fender, hood and rear deck lid were again dent resistant Sheet Molded Composite. Pricing on the Continental was up only slightly over the 1997 model, which itself had seen a price reduction from the year before. The Continental was built at the Wixom Assembly plant.
