For 1966 the fourth generation Continental underwent a second mid cycle redesign. To compete with the Cadillac Coupe de Ville and Imperial Crown Coupe, Lincoln introduced its first two door pillarless hardtop since 1960, while the convertible remained offered only as a four door. Lincoln cut the price nearly 600 dollars from 1965 with equipment unchanged, and the all new body grew five inches longer, mainly for rear seat legroom, with a glass rear window on the convertible.
