For 1961 the Lincoln range was consolidated into one model, a new Lincoln Continental, after Ford had lost 60 million dollars developing the 1958 to 1960 cars. It was available only as a four door sedan and a four door convertible, and was nearly 15 inches shorter than its predecessor. The sedan was listed at 6,067 dollars and 22,303 were made. It was the first American built car sold with a two year, 24,000 mile warranty, and won Car Life's Engineering Excellence Award for 1961.
