For 1964 the Lincoln Continental underwent its first mid cycle redesign. Several changes aimed to increase rear seat space: the wheelbase grew from 123 to 126 inches, shifting the rear seats backward, flat side glass replaced curved glass, and the roofline became more squared off, in a notchback style. The front fascia added vertical chrome accents to the grille to end the electric shaver look, and the interior was completely revised with a full width instrument panel.
