Chevrolet is the volume brand of General Motors, the name on its mainstream cars, pickups and SUVs from the Corvette and Camaro to the Silverado. It began in 1911 as an independent company started in Detroit by the racing driver Louis Chevrolet together with William Durant, who used it in 1918 to take back control of General Motors, and it has been the best selling American division for most of the time since. The brand is sold in most markets worldwide, with cars built in North America, South America, China and, for some years, by GM Daewoo in Korea, and it withdrew from Europe at the end of 2015 apart from the Camaro and Corvette. Every Chevrolet model, generation and model year on this site links back to this brand page.
