The second generation car was introduced to the assembly plants in February 1970, halfway through the model year, so some call it a 1970 and a half, though all were 1970 models. It was the first Camaro with a rear stabilizer bar, the SS 396 used a 402 cubic inch engine that kept the 396 badge, and the Z28 got the LT-1 Corvette engine. It is regarded as the most desirable early car of the generation.
