The second generation Camaro arrived in the spring of 1970, longer, lower and wider than the first, with no convertible. It was a more refined driver's car in which the Z28 remained the high performance version, and it had major styling changes in 1974 and 1978. It survived rumors of cancellation in 1971 and 1972, grew heavier bumpers and emissions equipment, and sold best in 1979, the highest figure for any Camaro generation. Its model years run from 1970 to 1981.
