For 1970 a rear wheel drive model was added to the Blazer line, and the truck was also rebadged as the GMC Jimmy, the shorthand nickname for the Blazer's GMC counterpart. By 1970 the Blazer would overtake its rivals in the marketplace. The K5 Blazer was marketed by GMC from 1970 to 1991 as the GMC Jimmy. The GMC Jimmy, the GMC counterpart of the Blazer, was added in 1970 beside the new rear drive Blazer, and the Blazer led its class.
