The 1972 Nova received only minor trim changes, but despite the lack of change the Nova had its best sales season in years, with production of the 1972 models reaching 349,733. After 1971 the other General Motors divisions had begun rebadging the Nova as their new entry level cars, the Pontiac Ventura II, the Oldsmobile Omega and the Buick Apollo, the last two arriving in 1973. The Rally Nova trim level, available on the coupe only, had been introduced in mid 1971.
