The most extensive redesign in its ten year history marked the 1973 Chevelle, as concern over proposed federal rollover standards led to the end of the convertible and four door hardtop and the replacement of the two door hardtop by a pillared coupe, the Colonnade Hardtop. Front disc brakes became standard on all 1973 Chevelles, the top series was named Laguna, and Chevelle sales remained strong at 327,631 plus 59,108 station wagons.
