Subaru is the car brand of Subaru Corporation, a Japanese company with aircraft roots that was known as Fuji Heavy Industries until 2017. Its cars are known for horizontally opposed boxer engines and Symmetrical All Wheel Drive, and its range has run from the tiny 360 of 1958 through the Legacy, Impreza, Forester and Outback to the BRZ coupe developed with Toyota. Subaru has been held in part by Nissan, General Motors and Toyota in turn, and it builds cars at Ota in Gunma, Japan and at Lafayette, Indiana.
