A more powerful 1000 SS model with 67 PS, first shown at the 1967 Tokyo Motor Show, was offered for 1968, with twin SU carburetors, front disc brakes and radial tires. A three door light van was added in January 1968, and the last addition to the lineup, the Super Deluxe two or four door sedan with a standard floor shift, came in November 1968. It was the first production Subaru to use a boxer engine, and one of Japan's first front wheel drive cars.
