The Cherokee has been Jeep's name for a line of SUVs that began in 1974 as the two door variant of the full size Wagoneer, became in 1984 one of the first compact SUVs with the unibody XJ, and from 2014 was a front drive crossover. This site covers the SJ, XJ and KL generations under this page, and the Liberty that was sold as the Cherokee in some markets under the Liberty page. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the SJ (1974 to 1983); the XJ (1984 to 2001); the KL (2014 to 2023).
