Mercury

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Mercury was the middle brand of Ford Motor Company, a line of medium priced cars that Edsel Ford created in 1938 to fill the gap between Ford and Lincoln. The first Mercury Eight reached showrooms for the 1939 model year, and from 1945 the brand shared the Lincoln-Mercury Division with Lincoln. Mercury cars usually shared parts and engineering with a Ford or a Lincoln, so many of them were close counterparts of a Ford model, which this site records as a rebadge link between the two model pages. Sales declined for years, and Ford announced the closure of the brand at the end of 2010, with the last model year being 2011. The brand is defunct, and all its models, generations and model years stay on this site with a link back to this page.
