In 1967 the Commuter was a mid level full size Mercury wagon, a body on frame four door wagon with a coil spring live rear axle and the Magic Doorgate. The Colony Park above it gained a side facing third row seat option and fresh air ventilation channels in its roof pillar in 1967, and the Commuter shared the exterior revisions that followed Lincoln Continental styling updates. Its trim lacked the woodgrain panels of the Colony Park.
