The 1970 Colony Park continued the fifth generation as the Marquis line wagon, with covered headlights deployed by a vacuum canister system that kept the doors down while the engine ran and let them retract up if vacuum was lost. The Magic Doorgate was reworked so it could swing outward like a conventional door without the glass being retracted, and a 400 cubic inch V8 was standard. Its rivals were the Buick Estate and Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser.
