Lincoln

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Lincoln is the luxury brand of Ford Motor Company, sold in North America and in a few markets in the Middle East, China and South Korea. It began as an independent firm started in Detroit in 1917 by Henry Leland, who named it for the president he first voted for, and Ford bought it in February 1922 after it ran into financial trouble. Its 1940 Continental helped to create the personal luxury car segment, and for many decades it also built limousines, several of them official state cars of United States presidents. From the 2021 model year the brand sells only SUVs and crossovers. The Continental and the Mark series were separate Lincoln-linked lines for years before being folded in, and each Lincoln model, generation and model year on this site links back to this brand page.
