In 1955 the Lincoln Custom name returned for one year only as the lower level series, with 12 inch drum brakes. After World War II production of the Custom limousines was not resumed, and the former Zephyr became the only Lincoln sedan in standard and DeLuxe versions, before a major revamp of the entire Lincoln line in 1949 introduced relatively modern V8 engines. The 1955 Lincoln Custom was the lowest model in the line.
