In 1953 Lincolns again won the top four spots in the Stock Car category of the Pan American Road Race, as they had in 1952. The Cosmopolitan was the senior Lincoln beneath the Capri in its second generation, with a single basic body design shared with Mercury, and was built at Lincoln Assembly in Dearborn, Michigan, some cars being sent in knock down kits to regional factories. The second generation Cosmopolitan shared a single basic body design with Mercury.
