The Cosmopolitan was Lincoln's senior full size luxury car for the 1949 to 1954 model years, built at Lincoln Assembly in Dearborn, Michigan, with some cars sent as knock down kits to regional factories. It was the first Lincoln of the postwar bodies of the combined Lincoln Mercury Division, was used by President Truman and Eisenhower as a state car, and led to the Capri in 1952. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the first generation (1949 to 1951); the second generation (1952 to 1954).
