Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

GMC is the General Motors brand for trucks and utility vehicles, today making SUVs, pickups and vans that sit above Chevrolet in the range and are sold alongside Buick. Its roots reach back to the Grabowsky brothers' firm of 1900, which became the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company, and General Motors formed its truck company in 1911, with the GMC name replacing Rapid and Reliance in 1912. Over the years it also built military trucks, fire engines, ambulances, buses and motorhomes. GMC trucks share most of their engineering with Chevrolet models, and since 2020 the Hummer name has been used as a sub-brand of GMC. Every GMC model, generation and model year on this site links back to this brand page.
