For 2027 the continuously variable transmission was discontinued on the GMC Terrain and all models now featured the eight speed automatic transmission. The Terrain of 2027 was the third model year of the third generation, built in Mexico, and the third generation was unveiled on August 12, 2024 as a redesign of the compact GMC crossover. The 2027 Terrain dropped the CVT, a change that left an eight speed automatic as the only transmission in the line.
