The trucks were refreshed in 2002 for the 2003 model year, bringing slight design changes and an upgrade to the audio and heating and ventilation controls. The 2003 Sierra was the same GMT800 truck introduced for 1999, mechanically identical to the Chevrolet Silverado, and sold by GMC dealers in the United States. The refreshed 2003 Sierra had a new audio and HVAC layout and the same body shell and engines as in 1999.
