The Dodge Challenger is a pony car that Dodge introduced for the 1970 model year to compete with the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, built on the Chrysler E-body platform it shared with the similarly sized Plymouth Barracuda. After the original generation ended production in the mid-1970s, the Challenger name was revived in 2008 for a new retro-styled coupe deliberately echoing the look of the first generation car.
