Ford Escort (North America) (first generation)

Automobiles

The first North American Escort was launched on 3 October 1980 for the 1981 model year, with Lincoln-Mercury selling it as the Mercury Lynx. It was a front wheel drive, transverse engine subcompact on a wheelbase close to the Pinto's, nearly six inches longer and over three inches taller. It came as a three door hatchback, a five door hatchback from May 1981 and a five door wagon, with a 1.6 liter CVH engine, and was revised in 1985 and again in 1988. Each model year has its own page.
