Jaguar Cars is a British maker of sports and luxury saloons that began in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company at Blackpool and was renamed Jaguar in 1945 under William Lyons. Its XK120 and C-Type won races, the E-Type introduced in 1961 became a design icon, and the XJ saloon line ran for decades. Jaguar later passed through British Leyland, Ford and Tata Motors and is based at Coventry. The marque is known in particular for elegant sporting saloons and grand tourers, and its cars are built in the English Midlands.
