Jaguar XF (X250)

Automobiles

The Jaguar XF (X250) was an executive luxury sports saloon that Jaguar Cars launched in autumn 2007 to replace the S-Type, designated X250 internally and available as a four-door saloon and, from 2012, a five-door estate marketed as the Sportbrake. It was developed at Jaguar's Whitley design headquarters in Coventry and built at the Castle Bromwich Assembly facility in Birmingham. Jaguar had planned an all-aluminium platform, but time constraints set by its board led to the X250 using a heavily modified Ford DEW98 platform, and it was the first of the new styled Jaguars, shown at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show after the C-XF concept. All XF models were automatic, with six-speed ZF gearboxes at first and eight-speed units from 2012 to 2013. A 4.2 litre supercharged V8 was replaced in 2008 by a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 rated at 346 kilowatts, the 2.7 litre V6 diesel gave way in 2009 to a 3.0 litre V6 diesel, and a facelift in 2011 added a 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel. The X260 succeeded the X250 in 2015.
