The Classic Mini is the original Mini in its life as a marque of its own, from 1969, when the simple name Mini replaced the separate Austin and Morris names, until the last car left Longbridge in October 2000. Built by British Leyland and the Rover Group, it passed through Marks III to VII, gained the A-Plus engine in 1980, a Cooper revival in 1990 and fuel injection in 1991, and about 5.38 million Minis of every name were built between 1959 and 2000. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 5 generations: the Mark III (1969 to 1976); the Mark IV (1976 to 1984); the Mark V (1984 to 1990); the Mark VI (1990 to 1996); the Mark VII (1996 to 2000).
