In June 1971 the 1275 GT and Clubman switched to the rubber cone suspension of the original Minis, and the original rubber suspension reappeared on all models and was retained for the remaining life of the Mini. The Hydrolastic system that had been used since 1964 was dropped as a cost saving measure, in the year when the Mark III was in its third year. The earlier Hydrolastic ride was no longer offered on any Mini after this change.
