The Mini in 1987 was in its fourth year of the Mark V, a car in the Rover Group, made at Longbridge, which continued to produce the car with a steady stream of limited editions. The car was still based on a 1959 design, though it had been updated with the A Plus engine, disc brakes and plastic arches, and it was sold in the City, Mayfair and other versions. The Mini remained cheap to buy, which suited younger drivers.
