In 1990 the Mini Cooper was relaunched, twenty years after the demise of the original Mini Cooper, which saw Mini production pass 40,000. It again featured the long running 1275 cc engine that had featured on the original Mini Cooper S. The Mark V ended that year and the Mark VI followed, in the year when the Metro was redesigned to take the K Series engine. The Cooper was sold with a 1275 cc engine and was an instant success in Britain.
