The Toyota Carina is an automobile that Toyota manufactured from December 1970 to December 2001. It was introduced as a sedan counterpart of the Celica, with which it originally shared a platform, and was later realigned to the Corona platform but kept its performance image, aimed at the youth market and exclusive to Japanese Toyota Store dealerships. Its name came from the constellation Carina, sharing a naming inspiration with the Celica. In Europe the Corona was rebadged as the Carina II and the Carina E. It was replaced in Japan by the Allion in 2001 and succeeded in Europe by the Avensis.
