The Carina entered production in December 1970, sold at Toyota Store dealership channels in Japan and sharing its platform with the Toyota Celica sports coupe. A performance oriented in house competitor close in size to the Corona, it was introduced in 1970 on the Celica platform. This was the first model year of the Toyota Carina (first generation, A10 and A30), 1970 to 1976, the first generation covered for the Toyota Carina; the 1971 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Carina run from 1970 to 2001.
