In 1996, along with the base Ti model of 1500 to 2200 cc, a sports GT version was introduced with the five valve per cylinder 4A-GE black top engine and a 5 speed C56 manual transmission. The sixth generation was discontinued in 1996. This was the first model year of the Toyota Carina (seventh generation, T210), 1996 to 2001, which took over from the Toyota Carina (sixth generation, T190); the 1997 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Carina run from 1970 to 2001.
