In 1996, along with the base Ti model of 1500 to 2200 cc, a sports GT version was introduced with the five valve per cylinder 4A-GE black top engine and a 5 speed C56 manual transmission. In 1997 a Limited model with a few extra features was introduced, known as the GT Pierna, and from 1998 the GT had a 6 speed C160 manual. August 1998 brought minor changes in design, and in December 2001 production ended after the nameplate had been in use for 31 years.
