The Mondeo was Ford's attempt at a world car in the mid-size class, a front wheel drive family saloon, hatchback and estate that replaced the Sierra in Europe in 1993, the Telstar in Asia and, as the Contour and Mystique, the Tempo and Topaz in North America. It was built for Europe at Genk and later Valencia, was European Car of the Year for 1994, and ended its European run in March 2022. A sedan version continues in China as the fifth generation. This site treats the Contour and Mystique as separate models linked to it by rebadging. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 5 generations: the first generation, Mk I and Mk II (1993 to 1999); the second generation, Mk III (2000 to 2006); the third generation, Mk IV (2007 to 2012); the fourth generation, Mk V (2013 to 2021); the fifth generation, China (2022 to 2026).
