1999 was the Mk II Mondeo's final full year before the larger second generation replaced it in October 2000, and the Mondeo had been the Sierra's replacement in Europe for six years. It continued as a four door saloon, five door hatchback and five door estate built at Genk, with the revised Zetec engines and the 2.5 liter Duratec V6. In Brazil the V6 version was sold only during the last years of this generation.
