2006 was the last year of the Mk III Mondeo, which was replaced in Europe at the start of 2007 by the Mk IV unveiled in late 2006. In Brazil the Mondeo that Ford do Brasil had re imported from 2002 was replaced by the Fusion in 2006. The Taiwanese Mondeo Metrostar, built from 2001, continued as a four door saloon and was exported to China and Vietnam, with a 2.5 liter V6 option after 2003. Throughout the generation the Mondeo was Britain's most popular car in its class.
