In 2005 two new Duratorq common rail diesels were added to the Mondeo range, a 2.2 liter with 155 PS and a detuned version of the 2.0 liter with 89 PS. The seat belt warning system, with an audible and visual signal reminding the driver to fasten the belt, became standard, and the styling was upgraded again. The V6 engines still sat at the top of the range for the Zetec S, Ghia X and Titanium X. The Mondeo remained Britain's most popular car in its class.
