The Mk IV Mondeo was launched in the UK in February 2007, after its unveiling in late 2006 and its appearance as James Bond's car in Casino Royale in November 2006. It rode on the EUCD platform shared with the S-Max, Galaxy and Volvo and used a Volvo five cylinder petrol engine, with the V6s dropped. The 2007 Mondeo also marked Ford's return to the Australian market after six years away, as high fuel prices made people rethink large cars.
