The fourth generation Mondeo started production in June 2013 for China, where it was the flagship of Ford's lineup there, and the Genk plant in Belgium closed in 2013, which was why European sales were delayed. Revealed at the 2012 Detroit show as the global twin of the American Fusion, it was based on a new C/D platform shared with the Galaxy and S-Max. The Mk IV model was sold in the Middle East and Central America until the 2013 introduction of the fifth.
