The MDX is Acura's three-row luxury crossover, on sale since the 2001 model year when it replaced the Isuzu-based SLX. Its name stands for Multi-Dimensional luxury. It has been the second best-selling mid-size luxury SUV in the United States after the Lexus RX, and it overtook the TL as Acura's top seller in 2006. Four generations followed, from a car-like crossover with a V6 and the VTM-4 drive system through the SH-AWD second generation and a hybrid in 2017 to the fourth generation of 2022 with a Type S version. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation (2001 to 2006 model years); the second generation (2007 to 2013 model years); the third generation (2014 to 2020 model years); the fourth generation (from the 2022 model year).
