The Eclipse was Mitsubishi's sport compact coupe, sold over four generations in the 1990 to 2012 model years, with a convertible Spyder added for 1996. The first two generations were built at Diamond-Star Motors, the Mitsubishi and Chrysler joint venture in Normal, Illinois, and sold at the same time as the Eagle Talon and, for the first, the Plymouth Laser. The name came from an unbeaten 18th century English racehorse, and in 2017 it was revived on the Eclipse Cross crossover. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 4 generations: the first generation (1990 to 1994); the second generation (1995 to 1999); the third generation (2000 to 2005); the fourth generation (2006 to 2012).
